CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Kidnappers have freed a gasoline station owner on Friday nearly 2 months after she was seized while traveling in Lanao del Norte’s Linamon town.
The 57-year Clarita Belisario was released near the town of Munai also in Lanao del Norte, but details of her freedom were not immediately known or if her family paid ransom to her captors, although other reports claimed that some P75,000 had been paid to the kidnappers.
Belisario was kidnapped on September 12. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, but rebel and criminal groups are actively operating in Lanao del Norte and neighboring provinces where ransom kidnappings are not uncommon.
The woman’s family did not give any statement. (Mindanao Examiner)
