Zamboanga watchman killed in daring attack

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Motorcycle gunmen killed a village watchman in a daring broad daylight attack in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
The victim, Nerwin Gonzales, was inside a passenger van when gunmen shot him near the Santa Cruz market in the village of Tetuan. Police investigators recovered bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol from the scene.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the murder, but gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga where hired killers are actively operating.
Police said it is still investigating the killing. It was not immediately known whether witnesses have come out in the open to help police in the investigation, but the area is typically busy during daytime which is near a police outpost. (Mindanao Examiner)
