SOUTH COTABATO – Motorcycle gunmen killed an executive of a financing company in an attack in Banga town in South Cotabato province on Mindanao, police said Monday.
Police said the 48-year old Emil Soteral, who worked for the Radiowealth Finance Company in Surallah town, died instantly from the attack. Soteral was driving his motorcycle on his way to Koronadal City when gunmen who tailing him opened fire and fatally hitting him.
Senior Superintendent Franklin Alvero, the provincial police chief, said he ordered an investigation into the motives of the killing. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the murder.
Just recently, two gunmen also killed three people in Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat province. Senior Superintendent Raul Supiter, the provincial police chief, identified the trio as Rebecca Ali, 39, from Cotabato City; Danilo Dasan, 48, from General Santos City; and Jose Michael Santiago, 38, of Santo Nino town in South Cotabato.
They were travelling on a pickup truck and heading to Cotabato City when the gunmen attacked them, according to Supiter. He said the victims were killed by the assailants inside their truck after witnesses told police investigators they saw two men came out from the truck after the shooting and fled.
It was unknown whether the truck had been hijacked or if the victims knew their attackers. Supiter said police were still investigating the killings. (Rhoderick Beñez)
