New Website Mediko.Ph Leverages the Filipino Language to Improve Health Awareness in the Country

AMONG THE Philippines’ most recent and promising new websites is Mediko.ph. Beyond simply being an online resource for medical information, the recently-launched website also aims to spread proper health awareness through the effective use of the Filipino language.

It does this with the goal of providing Filipinos with convenient, easy-to-access, and trustworthy information on common medical conditions and how they can best be treated.

“There were a few hurdles along the way, but we are very excited to transition this project into its current phase,” says Glen Dimaandal, founder and CEO of Mediko.Ph. “With our website now up and running, the next step is to further build up a repository of credible medical information that’s easy to understand for Filipino-speakers.”

Dimaandal, however, notes that Mediko.Ph is not strictly the first of its kind. He admits that established US-health based resource websites such as Mayo Clinic and WebMD served as key inspirations. But with Mediko.Ph. the focus is to create content specifically for the Philippine audience.

“With internet access in the country being more and more accessible and widespread, we felt the need to cater to those who can best digest information through Filipino, instead of English,” he elaborates. “Luckily, we were able to assemble a dedicated team of researchers, writers, and medical professionals who share our passion for health awareness and proper health education in general.”

Currently, Mediko.ph is host to comprehensive information and helpful information on conditions such as cancer, STDs, heart disease, tropical diseases, and more.

Mediko.ph will also soon launch a daily news section, in addition to content that focuses on providing helpful information on medicines, medical procedures, local healthcare providers, and more.
