SARANGANI PROVINCES active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases dropped to only 22 as of Monday night as more patients continued to recover in the area.
Dr. Arvin Alejandro, Sarangani health officer, said Tuesday a total of 99 patients have already recovered from the disease in the province or a recovery rate of 80.48 percent out of the 123 cases detected since March.
He said some 23 patients were reported by the Department of Health-Region 12 to have fully recovered from Covid-19 in the province’s seven municipalities.
Two new recovered patients, both from Kiamba town, were confirmed by the agency on Monday night, he said.
“Two of our municipalities -- Maitum and Glan -- have no active cases right now,” Alejandro said in a report.
Among the patients who recently recovered was a returning pregnant overseas Filipino worker from Malungon town, who safely delivered her baby at the St. Elizabeth Hospital here, he said.
As of Tuesday, the health official said they have not yet recorded any case of infection involving their medical front-line workers.
He said the provincial government is always making sure that all of them are protected against the disease through strict compliance of basic protocols and provision of proper personal protective equipment.
Alejandro advised residents who have possible exposure to Covid-19 in the neighboring areas with confirmed local transmission to immediately report their status to barangay and municipal health workers.
He specifically cited those with influenza-like symptoms and other suspected manifestations of the disease.
“Everyone should be vigilant and avoid unnecessary movements and activities, especially parties as there are already a number of infections traced to them,” he added. (By Allen Estabillo)
