Surge in COVID cases due to milder quarantine

MAYOR SARA  Duterte-Carpio revealed that the surge in COVID-19 cases in the city is expected due to the milder community quarantine being implemented now that everyone is settling a normal life.

She observed that it is also a manifestation that the virus is present in public areas, malls, streets and hospitals.

“There is a need to strengthen the implementation of strict health protocols especially that the holiday season is approaching,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She bared that with the surge of the Corona Virus Disease cases at the Southern Philippines Medical Center, some of the COVID-19 cases are being handled by the Davao Doctor’s Hospital in Barangay Dumoy. Toril.

Duterte-Carpio said with the surge in the COVID-19 infection cases, the city is experiencing a shortage of hospital beds.

She also stressed than an open-closed policy is not good since it is disruptive to the people’s way of life and will eventually make the public numb.

Duterte-Carpio drives for modified general community quarantine in order to manage the situation.

“We need to address the situation and to react by addressing the issues and challenges of the situation.  This pandemic stays for another two years so the public must know the regulations in order to control the cases,” she said.

Duterte-Carpio discouraged people to do mass gathering in public convergence, malls, jeepneys, public markets because the contagion happens in these areas regardless of any activity.

“Mass gathering is allowed in Davao City, but subject to regulations because of the pandemic,” she said. (By Joey Dalumpines)
