ZAMBOANGA CITY - MBLT-11 personnel headed by its Commanding Officer, LTCOL JOEL O ATIENZA PN(M), greet its mother unit, the Philippine Marine Corps, as it celebrates its 70th Marine Birthday on 07 November 2020.
As
it now takes pride of its seventy (70) years of service while continuously
improving to achieve its vision of being the amphibious force-in-readiness and
the nation’s force of choice for archipelagic defense bringing pride and
lasting inspiration to the people, Team Matatag will always be in support with the
Corps' pledge in attaining said vision.
Guided
by the 70th Birthday theme, “PMC
at the forefront of change, addressing peace and pandemic situations towards
seven decades of unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the nation’’,
Team Matatag has conducted numerous activities like Youth Engagement, Mangrove
and Tree Planting, License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) Caravan and Livelihood Training in collaboration with
other security agencies and local government units of Zamboanga City as a form
of celebration to commemmorate the PMC’s birthday while strictly adhering to
the health protocols implemented by the City. Further, a strong commitment in
support to IATF-COVID as part of the Task Force COVID Shield Zamboanga under
the Joint Task Force Zamboanga Team Matatag will remain firm and will not bow
down but instead influence others to prevail and stand against the COVID 19
pandemic.
Just
like what the first Commanding Officer of the ALPHA COMPANY, LTSG MANUEL A
GOMEZ PN said, “The Filipino Marines do not intend to bask on the glories
earned by the Marines of other countries…’’. The Philippine Marine Corps has
its own way of accomplishing its mission and providing optimum service to the
nation. And as it hails its growth in the cosmos of the armed forces, one thing
is foreseeable and that is, it will continue to achieve greater heights leading
its force with Karangalan, Katungkulan and
Kabayanihan.
