POLICE OFFICERS who will be killed in action will get burial assistance from a pre-need company.
This as the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Cosmopolitan Group signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding for the measure.
The signatories to the MOU include PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas, Cosmopolitan General Pre-Need Agency, Inc. (CGPAI) president Shelah Joaquin and Cosmopolitan Climbs Life Plan Incorporated (CCLPI) chairperson Renato Dychangco.
Under the MOU, the firm will provide full burial assistance and life plans worth PHP150,000 to personnel killed in police operations.
"With this MOU, we hope to assuage the grief of bereaved families from the untimely loss of their loved ones by the immediate release of burial assistance," Sinas said.
Meanwhile, the PNP also received financial aid worth PHP2.5 million from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) for the procurement of medical supplies and various medicines.
Sinas personally accepted the donation from Pagcor chairperson and chief executive officer Andrea Domingo.
"I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the members of Pagcor for their continuing support to the police force. We are very grateful for the outpouring of support to our personnel to maintain our Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) resiliency and to heal as one," Sinas said.
He added that the aid will enhance the PNP's capability in battling the pandemic.
"By this donation, we will make sure to sustain the need for medical supplies of our front-liners," Sinas said. (By Priam Nepomuceno)
