ZAMBOANGUEÑO ATHLETES who recently won at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam were honored by the local government for bagging two golds, two silvers and six bronze medals.
Mayor Beng Climaco, who led the recognition of the local athletes, said their sterling performance brought glory and honor not only to Zamboanga, but the Philippines. She also thanked the athletes’ coaches and families as well.
The Southeast Asian Games concluded
last week with Hidilyn Diaz (Weightlifting) winning a gold medal; Eumir Felix
DS Marcial (Boxing) with a gold medal; 2 silver medals for Chezka Luy Centeno (Billiard)
and Jhonny Morte (Wrestling); and 6 bronze medals for Jefferson Rhey Loon (Pencak
silat), Kristine Ramirez Paraon (rowing), Rosegie Ramos (Weightlifting),
Clemente Pabatang Tabugara Jr. (Wushu), Margarito Angana (Wrestling), and Rudzma
Abubakar (Muay Thai).
