COTABATO CITY - The Special Committee on Marawi Recovery, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation convened recently to address two proposed resolutions concerning the ongoing efforts in the Islamic City.
The meeting addressed proposed
Resolution No. 62, which aimed to assess the status of the Marawi Rehabilitation
Program Project Office (MRP-PMO), as well as proposed Resolution No. 441, which
urged government agencies to allocate funds for the extension of the lease
agreement for temporary shelters housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) in
Marawi for an additional two years.
The committee emphasized the importance of ensuring that the services promised to IDPs are effectively delivered through existing programs.
Updates on the BARMM-MRP Projects
were also shared, with resource speakers from implementing offices and agencies
such as the Ministry of Social Services and Development, the Ministry of Basic,
Higher, and Technical Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and
Agrarian Reform, and the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission.
Through consultations, the
committee's vice chair, Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman, recognized the significance
of public participation and dialogue on governance.
She reaffirmed the committee's
commitment to creating spaces for engagement with the public to ensure
