PAGADIAN CITY – Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a 13-year old boy in Pagadian City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said Monday.
Police said the weekend attack claimed the life of Saidamen Diamla. The victim just came out from an Internet shop and on his way home when one of two gunmen shot the boy in the chest with a .45-caliber pistol.
The gunmen escaped after the shooting, leaving the boy bloodied and dead, police said, adding, no individual or group claimed responsibility for the murder. But Pagadian, the provincial capital and regional center of Western Mindanao, is well known for gun attacks with many of the killings over the years remain unresolved.
Police said it is investigating the fatal shooting. The boy’s family did not give any statement to the press, but is grieving over its lost.
It was unknown if there were regular checkpoints and military and police patrol in the city since the whole of southern Philippines is under an extended martial rule to deter crimes and terrorism. (Mindanao Examiner)
