ZAMBOANGA CITY – A speeding passenger jeep overturned Monday after its driver lost control of the wheel and police said 14 people were injured from the mishap on a village here.
Police said the accident occurred in Cawit village and among the injured were five minors - Khalifa Abdusala, 14; Mihada Isdari, 14; Alizza Cabbah and Mawaddah Alih, both 10 years old; and Jumadil Sarabi, 12.
The driver, Amir Alih, 39, was also injured in the mishap. Police said the jeep rammed a street pole at a curve on the road and over turned. “The jeepney lost its brake and upon reaching at the blind curve portion of the road it hit the steel electrical post and landed upside down,” police said.
The wounded were all rushed to different hospitals and have been identified as Nurhana Kamlian, 48; Islay Nuring, 26; Abser Manalos, 24; Ainalyn Alipuddin, 46; Nur-aina Isdari, 24; Abdil Aziz Isdari, 21; Aldrin Isdari, 18; and Mawa Isdari, 55. “The driver and his passengers all sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies and were rushed to hospitals by responding ambulance,” police said.
