Cebu sitio locked down after baby dies of Covid-19

THE MAYOR of Argao town in Cebu province on Friday night ordered the lockdown of a "sitio" in Barangay Tulang after a month-old infant there died of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mayor Allan Sesaldo said residents of Sitio Sutil would not be allowed to get out of their homes while people from other areas would be prohibited from entering the sitio.
Sesaldo said immediate family members of the baby and other people residing in their house were placed under a 14-day home quarantine after undergoing swab tests on Friday.
He said the lockdown would be lifted once the tests on the family members turn out negative.
The baby, the town’s first Covid-19 patient, died at dawn on Friday. Sesaldo declined to disclose the infant’s gender.
He said the local government of Argao would shoulder the baby’s cremation and support the basic
needs of residents affected by the lockdown.
"We are hoping that the result of the swab test of the people held after the contact tracing would be negative
so that we can lift the lockdown," Sesaldo said in the vernacular. (By Ramil Ayuman)
