THE CORONAVIRUS disease (Covid-19) cases among overseas Filipinos (OFs) rose to 8,432 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) registered 15 more infections on Saturday.
"With only five countries in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe reporting on the status of our people abroad today, the DFA confirms 15 new Covid-19 cases among Filipinos abroad," the DFA said.
"Moreover, no new recoveries and fatalities were reported today," it added.
The active cases stand at 2,815 -- at least 84 in the Asia Pacific, 468 in Europe, 2,114 in the Middle East/Africa, and 149 in the Americas.
"The DFA continues to keep track of the status of Filipinos abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home as we keep on this fight against this pandemic," the agency said.
Meanwhile, the Philippine embassy in Washington DC advised the Filipino community to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to ensure their safety as cases of Covid-19 increase in many parts of the United States.
"As Covid-19 continues to spread across the United States, so do the attendant risks to individual health and security, including some incidence of crimes targeting Asian and Asian-Americans. During these challenging times, please continue to exercise increase vigilance, and take necessary measures to ensure your safety," it said in a statement. (By Joyce Ann L. Rocamora)
