THE DEPARTMENT of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 653 additional coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the overall tally to 35,455.
The DOH said 168 of the additional cases are "late" or results belatedly reported and were only verified recently, while 485 are "fresh cases" or results released to the patient within the past three days.
Of the fresh cases, 245 are from the National Capital Region (NCR), 120 from Central Visayas, 112 from other regions, and eight are repatriates.
Meanwhile, some 111 of the late cases are from the NCR, 11 from other regions, and 21 are repatriates.
The DOH also reported 258 new recoveries and eight new deaths.
"Of the eight reported deaths, five or 62 percent occurred between June 13 to 22, 2020. Two cases were removed from the total recoveries count while one duplicate was also removed from the total case count after validation. The total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation," the DOH said.
To date, the total number of recoveries nationwide is 9,686, while the death toll is 1,244.
In its case bulletin, the DOH noted that there are 24,137 active Covid-19 cases where 898 or 3.7 percent are asymptomatic, 23,090 or 95.7 percent have mild symptoms, 125 or 0.5 percent have severe symptoms, and 24 or 0.1 percent are in critical condition.
As of Saturday, the DOH has 13,417 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
Occupied are about 41.15 percent of 3,179 ward beds; 37.93 percent of 8,925 isolation beds; and 36.63 percent of 1,313 intensive care unit beds.
There are 1,883 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients with about 22.89 percent in use.
In Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) facilities across the country, some 58,785 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
Meanwhile, some 3,193 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients in Mega Ligtas Covid facilities. (By Ma. Teresa Montemayor)
