SOME 1,400 students will benefit from the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) of the local government of Zamboanga.
The City Social Welfare and Development Program said students aged 21-30 years old will be hired by the City Government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for a 20-day work period to start on July 23 and ends August 14.
This was also confirmed by Mayor Beng Climaco to the Zamboanga Post, saying, each beneficiary will receive a daily salary of P503.09 and 60% of which will be paid by the City Government while the 40% is shouldered by the DOLE.
Climaco said beneficiaries should be in school – either in college, high school or vocational and even out of school youth. “We really want to help our students, especially during these difficult times,” she said.
City Social Welfare Officer Socorro Rojas said SPES beneficiaries will be assigned in the barangays to assist the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, as well as in disinfection and sanitation. (Zamboanga Post)
