CHURCHES UNDER the Diocese of Tarlac have resumed public Masses starting Wednesday.
Bishop Enrique Macaraeg said public worship is now allowed again in all churches and chapel in the dioceses after the province has been declared under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
“Due to the pronouncement of the civil authorities that the Province of Tarlac is now under the status of Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), parishes and chapels in the Diocese of Tarlac, may resume public workshop or masses with congregation beginning on Wednesday, July 1, 2020,” he said in Circular 2020-10 dated June 30.
Under MGCQ rules, religious activities are allowed at 50 percent capacity of the venue.
“We will follow the directives of the civil authorities who at this time is permitting an attendance in Masses within 50 percent of the sitting capacity of the church or chapel,” the Catholic priest added.
Macaraeg added that they will strictly implement health protocols such as wearing of mask and physical distancing, among others.
“We will insist that all persons attending these celebrations should wear face masks, practice social distancing and sanitize their hands when entering the church,” he added.
He, meanwhile, encouraged senior citizens, children and those who are vulnerable to just stay home as parishes will also celebrate Masses via livestreaming.
“The general dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains in effect in the Diocese of Tarlac until further notice,” the Circular added. (By Ferdinand Patinio)
