CEBU CITY – The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) placed the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay, including the towns of Minglanilla and Consolacion in Cebu province under General Community Quarantine or GCQ.
This was confirmed also by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque who said the latest quarantine classification will end on August 31. Aside from the areas in Cebu, the same classification is also imposed in Iloilo City, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Quezon in Luzon. And the rest of the country is placed under Modified General Community Quarantine with some provinces, highly urbanized cities and independent component cities with strict enforcement of local action.
Roque urged the public to follow quarantine protocols and always observe physical distancing.
“Ang laban po sa Covid-19 ay hindi makakaya mag-isa ng pamahalaan. Huwag po nating i-asa lahat sa gobyerno, kina-kailangan ng tulong at kooperasyon ng lahat. Masuwerte tayo at marami sa pribadong sektor ang tumugon sa panawagan ng administrasyon na Tumulong,” he said.
Roque said the National Task Force Against Covid-19 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government are directed to ensure that areas flagged for local action shall implement strict lockdown of areas in line with the zoning containment strategy, strict enforcement of minimum public health standards, and intensified tracing and quarantine of close contacts and isolation of confirmed cases.
