Zamboanga City - amid the coronavirus pandemic - is now under a more relax Moderate General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) and tourist destinations, including beaches and resorts, as well as libraries, archives, museums and cultural centers may operate at 50% operational capacity subject to certain conditions which may be imposed by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Climaco said strict safety guidelines and health protocols must be in place before local tourist destinations can reopen.

City Tourism Officer Sarita Hernandez also explained that rules and regulations for this development must first be studied and finalized. “We are still finalizing the guidelines as far as the reopening of Santa Cruz Island y tambien el Once Islas. Bajo na MGCQ, tiene cuantos maga tourist sites que puede acomoda con el maga visita o turista but then we have to follow some guidelines,” she said.

Hernandez said this can include limiting the carrying capacity of tourist destinations as well as the imposition of rules, regulations, and health protocols that is under the new normal.

“Other tourist sites that can reopen are the (Zamboanga) Golf (Club) Course (and Beach Club) and the City Museum,” she said. (Zamboanga Post. With a report from Jasmine Mohammadsali.)
