AS THE country faces the typhoon season amid the raging pandemic, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has restocked the storages of local government units (LGUs) nationwide to draw up resources.
The agency’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) posted on its virtual operation center on Wednesday that as of Tuesday (August 18), DSWD has PHP659.94-million standby fund and some PHP840.76 million worth of stockpile.
It is composed of PHP619.92 million allotted for Quick Response Fund; PHP40.03 million for the agency’s field offices; PHP449.20 million worth of non-food items; PHP149.45 million with of family food packs (FFPs); and PHP 242.11 million for other food items.
DROMIC has also reported that there are 1,665,093 FFPs in field offices nationwide.
The National Capital Region (NCR) received the biggest share with 284,095 FFPs.
These allocations shall also be distributed to families in need amid quarantine protocols imposed due to Covid-19, DSWD said.
Each DSWD food pack contains rice, assorted canned goods, coffee, and energy drinks –– good enough food for a family of five for two days.
DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista said on Tuesday's virtual presser that the agency continually replenishes resources to LGUs to increase their capacity to provide aid in case of calamity and other emergencies at this time of the pandemic. (By Christine Cudis)
