CEBU CITY – National police chief General Archie Gamboa relieved three senior officers for playing golf even during work days in Cebu.
The trio - Colonel Dennis Artil, Police Regional Comptroller; Lieutenant Colonels Glenn Mayam, Police Regional Drug Enforcement Group chief, and Dennis Bad-ang, Police Regional Finance chief, - violated Gamboa’s order to members of the police force prohibiting them from playing golf on weekdays.
Gamboa said the officers had been frequently spotted golfing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There was no immediate statement from Artil, Mayam and Bad-ang.
President Rodrigo Duterte recently named Gamboa as the new national police chief after serving as officer-in-charge since October 14.
Gamboa has served various posts from being a commanding officer up to different key positions in regional and national units, particularly in the national headquarters, Southern Luzon, Caraga, and in his home province, Bukidnon.
“Now that I am Chief PNP, I am vested with greater authority to implement the program of internal cleansing and organizational reform, even with iron fists if it will be necessary,” he said. (Cebu Examiner)
