New transport coop sees modern buses, SUVs plying Cagayan, Misamis Oriental

CAGAYAN DE ORO – New player Mindanao Daily Express Transport Cooperative has applied to initially operate 15 routes in Cagayan de Oro City and in some areas in Misamis Oriental province using modern public utility vehicles by June this year.

Cooperative Chairman Dante Sudaria, who is also the publisher of regional Mindanao Daily News and other community newspapers in Northern Mindanao, said the office of the Transportation Cooperatives, has already endorsed the proposed routes - Cugman to Cogon Public Market and vice versa, Bayabas to Cogon Public Market and vice versa, Bonbon to Cogon Public Market and vice versa, Iponan to Cogon Public Market and vice versa, Tagoloan to Agora Terminal and vice versa.

And Jasaan to Agora Terminal and vice versa, Villanueva to Agora Terminal and vice versa, Lapasan to Cogon Public Market and vice versa, Lapasan to Carmen Market and vice versa, Talakag, Bukidnon to Agora Terminal and vice versa, Claveria to Agora Terminal and vice versa, Tagoloan-Alae-Manolo Fortich and vice versa, Kisanlu Iponan to Limketkai and vice versa, Kisanlu Iponan to Gaisano Mall and vice versa and Cugman RC to Cogon Public Market and vice versa.

Sudaria said the routes are also in consonance to the city’s transport plan as well as in support of the government’s PUV modernization program. “Accordingly, all PUVs older than 15 years will be phased out by end of June 2020. However, the Department of Transportation also said older jeepneys can still operate beyond the deadline provided they pass the motor vehicle inspection system or the road worthiness test, including emission and safety tests,” he explained.

The Mindanao Daily Express Transport Cooperative is one of the biggest to operate in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental. Its head office is located at Tanleh Building in Abellanosa Street in Cagayan de Oro.

The cooperative - composed of different transport operators in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental - will have its garage and shop at the three hectare property along the coastal highway in the village of Igpit in Opol town in Misamis Oriental. The second garage of the cooperative will be at the one hectare property inside the Phividec Industrial Estate in the village of Santa Ana in Tagoloan town also in Misamis Oriental.

Sudaria said more transport operators have signified to join the cooperative. He said the Mindanao Daily Express Transport Cooperative will soon ply modern mini-buses in the city, as well as other air-conditioned and modern SUVs to make the transportation industry here more comfortable for the riding public.
“Kung bag o na ang mga vehicles like these modern transport SUVs and mini-buses plying the city then I think mas ganahan ang atong riding nga mao man gyod atong goserbisyuhan,” he said. (Mindanao Examiner)
