Charted plane with 8 passenger crashes in Manila

A CHARTERED Lion Air plane carrying eight people crashed and exploded in flame as it was taking off late Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Philippine Red Cross said.

It said Lion Air Flight RPC 5880 carrying a three crew members, a flight medic, a nurse, a doctor, a patient and another passenger was enroute to Cebu when it crashed.

“The plane caught fire and exploded as it was taking off of NAIA Runway 24,” it said.

No one survived the mishap.

Other report said the plane was  medical flight heading to Haneda Airport carrying a Canadian passenger and an American companion. 

Authorities did not release any statement, but an investigation into the crash is expected soon. (Mindanao Examiner)
