2 Covid-19 patients recover in Zambo

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus, or Covid-19, last month were released from hospital on Saturday after recovering from the deadly disease, the local mayor announced.
Mayor Beng Climaco said the two patients with codes ZC-03 and ZC-05 were tested anew and found no traces of the respiratory virus. She said both patients were already asymptomatic the past two weeks and tested negative in their repeat tests.

“We are happy to announce that patients ZC-03 and ZC-05 are now discharged from the Zamboanga City Medical Center and are now at home and reunited with their respective families. But our health teams will continue monitoring them and they are still advised to remain on home quarantine for at least 14 days,” said Mayor Beng Climaco.
She reminded residents to stay home and wash hands with soap and water often to avoid being infected with the disease.
Climaco also ordered the lifting of the lockdown - after more than 2 weeks - on a small neighborhood in Tetuan village where one of the patients live. She said the lockdown on another neighborhood in San Jose village where the second patient lives will also be lifted.

Policemen led by Maj. Mark Anthony Karanain, commander of Station 6 in Tetuan village, led village watchmen in removing the 2 checkpoints in the area. “We thanked the villagers for cooperating with us, but we still remind them to stay indoors because the enhanced community quarantine is still in effect,” he told the Zamboanga Post after visiting residents house-to-house and thanking them for their discipline and cooperation during the 18-day lockdown.
Zamboanga now has a total of 3 Covid-19 patients who fully recovered and three still remain in hospital and are in stable condition and awaiting repeat tests. But 49 probable Covid-19 patients and 14 other suspected Covid-19 patients are in hospitals.

Since last month, a total of 23 people died from suspected Covid-19 even before their test results could come out. (Zamboanga Post)
