THE DAPARTMENT of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 271 new persons infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,981.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire alo reported 29 new recoveries and 16 new deaths.
The total number of recovered cases nationwide is now at 722 while the death toll has climbed to 462.
"Base sa mga datos, maaari nating sabihin may indikasyon na nag-fa-flatten na ang curve, pero dahil ang tinitingnan natin ay dapat araw kung kailan nag-uumpisa ang sintomas ng tao, hindi natin masasabi na nag-flatten na ang curve ngayon. (Based on the data, we can say that there is an indication of flattening curve, since we should look at the date when a patient's symptoms has started, we cannot say categorically that the curve flattened already.) We are improving in our case doubling time or spacing of time needed in the doubling of cases of Covid-19," Vergeire said.
According to the latest data from the DOH nCov tracker, 19 of the 3,175 confirmed case in hospital admissions are new.
As of April 12, meanwhile, the DOH said there are a total of 3,191 beds for Covid-19 patients in hospitals, 1,474 mechanical ventilators, and 12,413 beds in identified community isolation facilities nationwide.
Also, there are 118,042 face shields, 54,913 goggles, 123,977 coveralls, 118,946 gowns, 229,568 N95 masks, 251,537 shoe covers, 3,871,669 surgical masks and 1,309,478 headcovers available in hospitals nationwide. (By Ma. Teresa Montemayor)
