Soldiers recovered the bodies of the slain rebels and their weapons, according to Lt. Col. Romeo Jimenea, the battalion commander, saying, they are coordinating with the municipal police to identify the casualties.
Maj. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr., chief of the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command, ordered security forces to intensify the operations against the rebels. “Let us continue with our relentless operations to deny the terrorists the opportunity to carry out coercion and intimidation so that the communities can continuously cope with the crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
There was no immediate stamen from the rebel group which has been fighting for the establishment of a communist state in the country. (Mindanao Examiner)
