SOME 736,303 families in the Ilocos Region received emergency cash subsidy under the national government’s social amelioration program (SAP) through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as of Monday noon (May 11).
In a phone interview, DSWD Ilocos Region information officer Darwin Chan said the SAP payout rate in the four provinces of the region was 92.80 percent.
Some 90,043 households in Ilocos Norte already received the cash subsidy, 102,572 in Ilocos Sur, 120,136 in La Union, and 423,552 in Pangasinan.
“Based on the daily report, the actual paid amount for SAP in the region is at PHP4.05 billion out of the PHP4.3 billion total funding,” he said.
Each of the qualified beneficiaries received PHP5,500.
Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government provincial director Paul Lalata Jr. said non-compliant local government units in the SAP distribution will be issued show-cause orders.
The deadline for the SAP payout was on May 10.
