THE DEPARTMENT of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday reported that 30 more Filipinos abroad tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total to 1,707 on Labor Day.
"Across the globe, the DFA records an average of 43 new Covid-19 cases daily among Filipinos abroad for the past month. On this Labor Day, the total number of confirmed cases is now at 1,707," said Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez.
The overall tally for recoveries is 455 while the death toll is 202. Based on DFA data, two died from the Asia Pacific region, 67 in Europe, 18 in the Middle East/Africa, and 115 in the Americas.
Currently, 1,050 are undergoing treatment.
On Labor Day, the agency praised all Filipino workers across the globe, particularly those on the front lines battling the pandemic.
"The DFA salutes and honors all the Filipino workers here and abroad for their sacrifices as well as their dedication and commitment to serve amid this time of the pandemic. You are all our modern-day heroes," Meñez said. (
