Ex-whistleblower Ador Mawanay nabbed for estafa

POLICE OFFICERS arrested on Wednesday former whistleblower Antonio Luis Marquez previously known as "Ador Mawanay" for charges of estafa in Pasig City.

Brig. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, deputy director for administration of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Marquez, 47, was arrested at the Greenwoods Executive Village.
He is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Ma. Consejo Gengos-Ignalaga of the Antipolo City Regional Trial Court Branch 100.
Authorities presented Marquez before reporters at the CIDG headquarters on Thursday.
The operation stemmed from a complaint of a doctor who claimed he ordered PHP12 million worth of medical supplies from Marquez before the enhanced community quarantine.
Marquez allegedly failed to deliver the items, which include 200,000 face masks.
During investigation, the CIDG found that Marquez is selling medical supplies online with a promise of fast delivery.
However, once the payment has been made the suspect will block his customers and no deliveries will be made.
It was also found he has standing arrest warrants issued by the Quezon City, San Juan, and Antipolo City courts for estafa.
He will be temporarily detained at the CIDG pending his appearance to the court and the posting of bail.
Marquez made the headlines in 2001 after he exposed Senator Panfilo Lacson’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities. (By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
