A TOTAL of 3,519 workers from Davao de Oro availed of the programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to lessen the impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to DOLE provincial director Neil Allan Baban, the interventions include COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) for the formal sector, and Barangay Ko, Buhay Ko (BKBK) under Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) for the informal sectors.
As reported during the meeting of the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19, some 2,131 workers in the informal sectors received Php 3,960 each or a total of PhP 8,438,760.
Director Baban said that these workers in the informal sectors include tricycle drivers, and workers of family-owned businesses like carinderia, barbershop, or sari-sari store.
He said that they were given 10 days of work, which includes disinfecting their houses, and community.
On CAMP, Baban revealed that some 297 workers from 24 establishment have already received PhP 5,000 or a total of PhP 1,485,000.
He said that the other 1,091 workers from 149 establishments will be released as soon as the funds will be available.
DOLE released earlier that the agency has realigned PhP 1.5 billion of its 2020 budget in order to provide a one-time assistance of P5,000 to an additional 300,000 workers in the whole country, who have already processed their documents under CAMP.
