NO FILIPINO has succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad in two consecutive days, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Friday.
A total of 15 recoveries and only nine new cases in the Americas and Middle East were registered, raising the total to 789 and 2,331, respectively.
DFA said May 15 also marks the third day in a row where more recoveries were logged compared to new confirmed cases.
"The DFA, through its Embassies and Consulates, remains committed to continuously monitoring the status of our nationals abroad and providing assistance, whenever possible, to ensure their welfare as we continue to battle against Covid-19," the DFA said in a statement.
The total confirmed cases are pegged at 425 in the Asia Pacific, 687 in Europe, 684 in the Middle East/Africa, and 535 in the Americas.
Of the 1,273 active cases or those undergoing treatment, 132 are in the Asia Pacific region, 390 in Europe, 559 in Middle East/Africa, and 192 in the Americas.
Meanwhile, the death toll among overseas Filipinos stands at 269 -- two in the Asia Pacific region, 82 in Europe, 39 in Middle East/Africa, and 146 in the Americas. (By Joyce Ann L. Rocamora)
