THE CITY Government of Ozamiz conducted random rapid testing to SM Lao Memorial Hospital and City Health Office employees at City Health Office, June 23.
Out of 183 Ozamiz LGU employees, 11 have tested positive on the rapid test, and are scheduled to undergo the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, June 24.
City Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal said, “We ask for your understanding that we have prioritized our LGU employees (starting with the SM Lao and City Health Office) because they are the most exposed individuals. The 11 employees are now under the care of our isolation facility."
The mayor encouraged the residents to continue praying for the city and all Ozamiznons, who underwent the rapid testing, that their swab results will hopefully come out as negative.
“I am requesting the full cooperation of the public, especially the Ozamiznons so that we can be assured that there is no COVID-19 case walking on the streets of our beloved City,” Oaminal said.
He added that the local government has already anticipated that time will come where random rapid testing is needed to be done.
Oaminal also reminded Ozamiznons to follow the health protocols and guidelines by practicing social distancing, wearing face masks, keeping and maintaining proper hygiene, and staying at home unless necessary errands are to be done.
The random rapid testing aims to provide an estimate of the degree of COVID-19 infection in the city, the mayor said.(By Shaine Mae R. Nagtalon)
