Dumaguete still requires access passes under MGCQ

THE CITY  government will continue requiring the use of the easy access passes or resident passes even as Negros Oriental province is now downgraded to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

City Public Information Officer Dems Rey Demecillo said Thursday that this covers residents and non-residents to control the influx of people to this capital city now that certain quarantine restrictions have been eased effective July 1.
Demecillo said that Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo on Wednesday said provisions stipulated in Executive Order No. 19-C that limit the entry of residents and non-residents to malls, the public market, supermarkets, grocery stores, and other essential business establishments are still in effect.
Pharmacies, however, are exempted from these quarantine passes, he said.
The color-coding of these passes are as follows: red for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and Sundays, and purple for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, for city residents.
For non-residents, they are asked to use the easy access pass previously issued per household by their respective local government units (LGUs) and to follow the same schedules for those coming here.
Those coming from towns and cities in Congressional Districts 1 and 2 (north of Dumaguete) can enter this capital on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while those from District 3 (south of here) are allowed entry on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Under the MGCQ, business establishments here are now open for both residents and non-residents on Sundays, provided they present their respective quarantine passes, Demecillo said.
Mayor Remollo has reiterated the need for citizens to stay home unless it is urgent and necessary to leave the house to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Demecillo said.
He added that curfew hours remain in effect for those aged 21 below and 60 above, who are not allowed to leave their homes unless for emergency reasons. (By Mary Judaline Partlow)
