SEVERE TROPICAL storm "Dindo" may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, and still has no direct impact on the country, the weather bureau said.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Dindo" was last tracked 475 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes, and is forecast to continue moving northwestward towards the East China Sea.
It packs a maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said a new low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted 570 kilometers east southeast of Davao City.
The trough of LPA is expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao Region.
Aurelio said the southwest monsoon affecting northern and central Luzon will cause rains over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, gale warning is in effect over the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon, and the western seaboards of central Luzon. Sea travel is risky over these areas due to rough to very rough seas, PAGASA said.
Those with small seacraft are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out over the other seaboards of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas, it added.
Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds, and slight to coastal waters. (By Ma. Cristina Arayata)
