THE NUMBER of police officers infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is now 2,249.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the Philippine National Police Health Service reported 58 new confirmed Covid-19 cases among its ranks while a total of 1,095 personnel have recovered from the disease. The death toll remains at 11.
It is also monitoring 845 probable cases and 2,230 suspected cases.
Earlier, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the majority of the cops who have contracted the disease are asymptomatic.
Cops tested for Covid-19 will observe a 14-day quarantine and undergo another test. Once cleared, they have to rest for seven to 10 more days before going back to duty, Banac added. (By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
