THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) reported that 61 more police officers contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases among its ranks to 5,812.
The PNP Health Service said n Monday that of the new infections, the Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have 17 each, followed by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and PRO 3 (Central Luzon) with five each, PRO 4-A (Calabarzon) and 5 (Bicol) with four each, National Operational Support Units with three, PRO 6 (Western Visayas) with two, and PRO 1 (Ilocos), PRO 4-B (Mimaropa), PRO-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), and National Administrative Support Units with one each.
Meanwhile, 4,610 PNP personnel have recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at 17.
The PNP Health Service is also monitoring 1,185 active cases.
Cops tested for Covid-19 observe a 14-day quarantine and undergo another test.
Once cleared, they have to rest for seven to 10 more days before going back to duty. (By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
