DOZENS OF Badjaos who were sent home from Bacolod City have been placed under a mandatory quarantine in the town of Omar in Sulu province as part of a strict health protocol being implemented by the local Covid-19 task force.
The task force, headed by Gov. Sakur Tan, said
82 Badjaos - 27 of them children – arrived recently in the province after
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia facilitated their return in coordination
with Sulu government through its “Hatid Probinsya” program.
Jainab Abdulmajid, the task force spokeswoman, said
the Coast Guard under Lt. Col. Antolin Cayabo transported the Badjaos to the
town of Omar where Mayor Abdulbaki Adjibon provided them with hygiene kit and
cooking utensils for the duration of their two-week mandatory quarantine in the
village of Lahing-Lahing.
The quarantine facility is being managed by the
local government.
Before their arrival in Omar, Abdulmajid briefed
the Badjaos and gave an orientation on health protocols and quarantine
procedures. (Mindanao Examiner)
