Gracy said she was excited to personally see how traditional weave is done. She visited the Yakan village and expressed her appreciation to the colorful weave and in her Facebook post, she said: “Our second chapter of our Raise Your Flag series takes me to Zamboanga, Mindanao, and I can’t wait to spotlight our proudly owned and made Filipino products and businesses on my platforms to hopefully encourage you to all join me in our efforts to support our countrymen.”

She said it was her first time to visit Zamboanga and urged Filipinos to suggest where else she can go and visit and taste local delicacies. “Tara! First time ko dito sa Zamboanga at sobrang sabik ako para makita ang Yakan village and to learn about TauSug weaves!” Gray said.

While in Zamboanga, the 26-year old Gray also met with Mayor Beng Climaco who accompanied her to Yakan village. She also visited century old City Hall where fans cheered her on.

Gray also did a video shoot where she proudly wore a classic Mascota – the traditional formal gown of ZamboangueƱas that reflects Zamboanga’s rich and colorful history.

“Bienvenidos y muchas gracias for promoting the City as we also celebrate the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival this October! Vaya con Dios!” Climaco said.

Gray also wrote a note and thanked the mayor and the locals for the warm reception she had. “Such a pleasure to be here. Thank you for the warm welcome,” she wrote at City Hall.

The Australian-Filipina model also said that she and her team followed strict health protocols during the visit. “Myself and all of my (limited) number of teams have been swab tested and are taking every measure: mask wearing, hand washing/sanitizing, social distancing and limiting number of people present, throughout all of our visits,” she said.
