SOME PARTS of the country will continue to experience rains as Typhoon "Quinta" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning, the weather bureau said.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Quinta was last seen 605 kilometers west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro or 305 km. north northeast of Pag-asa Island, Palawan, moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour.
It packs maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over Kalayaan Islands, wherein strong breeze to near gale conditions will be experienced.
Moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan including the Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands, Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the rest of Luzon and the Visayas.
Meanwhile, strong breeze to gale conditions associated with the northeasterlies will prevail in Batanes, northern Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte. Occasional gusts associated with the outer circulation of the typhoon will be experienced in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and the western section of Luzon.
Rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the northern and western seaboards of Luzon.
Moderate to rough seas will prevail over the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Palawan including the Cuyo Islands, the southern seaboards of Mindoro Provinces, and the western seaboards of Western Visayas, PAGASA said. (By Ma. Cristina Arayata)
