Tan, chairman of the local task force Covid-19, signed the order which took effect on October 16. He said exempted from the order are those whose travel is official and emergency purposes. The wearing of face masks and face shields, he added, are also strictly followed.

He recently met with municipal mayors and heads of government agencies at the Sulu Area Coordinating Center and discussed measures on how to further contain the spread of the deadly respiratory disease.

Tan said contact tracing is also continuing in the province to locate those who have physical or close contacts with people who have Covid-19.

There are now a total of 41 confirmed Covid-19 cases and six deaths in Sulu, according to the Ministry of Health.

Sulu has the lowest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Muslim autonomous region due to strict quarantine measures imposed by Tan since the start of the pandemic in March.

Lanao del Sur has the highest Covid-19 cases with 750; Maguindanao with 233 cases; Basilan with 132; and Tawi-Tawi with 115. (Mindanao Examiner)
