ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police are searching for 2 men involved in the shooting of a 51-year old man here.
Capt. Edwin Duco, a regional police spokesman, said the attackers shot Amil Lakbao who was driving a pickup truck with his wife Rashida in Barangay Sinunuc. The shooting occurred late Monday.
He said the couple was on their way to downtown Zamboanga when one of 2 men on a motorcycle tailing the duo opened fire and hitting the victim twice in the neck. His wife was unharmed from the attack.
“Initial investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, victims were travelling heading to direction of city proper on board on their Isuzu D-Max color gray with Plate no. ZRK 117 and had a stopover at the place of incident when suddenly a motorcycle riding suspects allegedly on board a white Yamaha Aerox appeared on their side.”
“The back rider went down the motorcycle and approached the Isuzu D-Max and fired multiple shots on the said vehicle. Suspects then fled towards the direction of City proper after the commission of crime. Amil Lakbao sustained two gunshot wounds on the left side of his neck while his wife was unharmed,” Duco said.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and Duco said the police are investigating the motive of the shooting. It was unclear how the assailants managed to pass through police and military checkpoints in the barangays leading to downtown Zamboanga.
