LPA, northeast monsoon to bring rains over Luzon Friday

A LOW  pressure area (LPA) and the northeast monsoon (amihan) affecting Luzon will cause rains over most parts of the island, the weather bureau said on Friday.

The LPA, last tracked in the vicinity of Bubulong Munti, Bulacan, will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila Central Luzon, Calabarzon, La Union, and Pangasinan.

Light rains will prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of the Ilocos Region due to the northeast monsoon.

The Caraga and the Davao regions will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, the Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough seas over northern and central Luzon.

Southern Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate seas.

Over the Visayas and Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (By Ma. Cristina Arayata)
