With the help of Tulfo, who contacted the Department of Labor and other concerned government agencies to act on the complaints, the pair was able to get their full salaries and eventually returned home to their hometown in Patikul town.
They also met with Tan and thanked him for his financial assistance. Tan provided funds to the duo so they start their own livelihood in Patikul town.
Tan, a well-respected leader in the South, thanked Tulfo for helping the two young men and even went on to speak on video to express his appreciation to the broadcaster’s efforts in aiding the Arabis.
One of Tan’s aides said the governor has big heart for the poor and the youth, especially his constituents and has up to now provided scholarship grants to Muslim and Christian students alike.
Just recently, Tan donated 23 pairs or basketball shoes to the youth in the village of Asturias in Jolo town and told them: “Play a sport. It will teach you how to win honorably, lose gracefully, respect authority, work with others, manage your time, and stay out of trouble.”
Tan’s family members are also philanthropist and equally well-respected – from his wife, Nurunisah, to his children Vice Governor Toto Tan, Congressman Samier Tan and Congresswoman Shernee Tambut, Maimbung Mayor Shiela Hayudini and Shai Mariwa. (Mindanao Examiner)
