2 suspects yield P20-M shabu in Cavite drug sting

AUTHORITIES ARRESTED  two suspected drug couriers and confiscated over PHP20 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Cavite, the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) said on Monday.

DEG director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said Rainier Reboriano, 25, and Joshua Legazpi, 34, were arrested inside Tierra Vista Subdivision, Barangay Langkaan 1, in DasmariƱas City during a buy-bust operation on Sunday afternoon.

The suspects yielded three kilos of shabu, buy-bust money, one .30-caliber carbine with two magazines, and eight rounds of cal. 45 ammunition.

Lee said the suspects are now under police custody as cases are being readied for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2020.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas ordered sustained operations against a major drug distribution network that operates in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Mindanao.

"Our crusade against illegal drugs will continue without letup. It is our sincerest commitment to the Filipino people to keep winning in this flagship program of the national government that we have started since 2016," Sinas said in a statement.

Initial investigation showed that the two suspects are purportedly core operators of a Manila-Mindanao drug syndicate operating in Cavite.

"The operation is part of more intensified and swift action of Case Operation Plan (COPLAN) Blood Stone designed to disrupt the drug distribution network of the syndicate," he said.

Lee told Sinas that they also monitored the involvement of some Chinese drug lords conniving with local drug peddlers operating in Metro Manila and Region 4A (Calabarzon).

On Saturday evening, PNP-DEG agents arrested two suspects operating in the same Manila-Mindanao network who yielded eight kilograms of high-grade shabu worth around PHP54.4 million. (
