Drug suspect falls in Pangasinan

POLICE ANTI-drug operatives arrested a wanted person who is responsible for the distribution of illegal drugs in areas of Central Luzon, a police official said on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group, said Edward de Leon was arrested by the Special Operating Unit 1 in an operation in Sison, Pangasinan on Thursday morning.

Lee said de Leon has been operating as a distributor of illegal drugs in areas of Mabalacat City, Pampanga, and Tarlac province. He has a standing arrest warrant issued by the Paniqui, Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 67 dated Nov. 19 for drug charges.

De Leon's live-in partner, Rose Ann Quirante, was also arrested for her alleged involvement in illegal drug trade.

Based on the police report, de Leon went to Pangasinan to evade arrest with his live-in partner.

The suspects were continuously operating their illegal business in Mabalacat City, and Tarlac province area particularly in Moncada town, Lee said.

They are temporarily detained at Sison Municipal Police Station and will be brought to Tarlac for proper disposition. (By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
