Simultaneous aid grants to highlight DOLE’s 87th anniversary

THE DEPARTMENT  of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be holding a nationwide and international awarding of cash and employment assistance to beneficiaries on Tuesday in celebration of its 87th anniversary. 

In a virtual forum, DOLE Undersecretary Renato Ebarle said all 16 regional offices in the country and some Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) will be giving out financial and job aid to beneficiaries in the country and abroad.

“It’s going to be an international and nationwide awarding of DOLE programs such as Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP), and Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP). It will be an international and nationwide event since our 16 regional offices will participate and the awarding tomorrow from north to south,” he said in a virtual forum.

Ebarle said the POLOs in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai will also be conducting payouts to OFW-beneficiaries.

“It’s international because our POLO in Singapore as well as in Hong Kong and Dubai will also give payouts to AKAP beneficiaries,” he added.

Under CAMP, formal sector workers displaced by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic will be receiving one-time cash assistance amounting to PHP5,000.

TUPAD beneficiaries will be provided an emergency employment assistance where they will be paid based on the prevailing minimum wage in the region they will be employed.

OFWs who were repatriated, stranded, and are still on site are covered by the AKAP program, one-time case assistance of US$200 (PHP10,000).

The DOLE would mark its 87th anniversary with the theme, “Ang DOLE sa Ika-87 Taon: Bayanihang Pagtugon sa Hamon ng Bagong Panahon” on Dec. 8.

The event would be held at the Kartilya ng Katipunan Park, beside Mehan Garden in Manila from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (By Ferdinand Patinio)
