ANIM NA miyembro ng New People’s Army ang sumuko sa 37th Infantry Battalion sa bayan ng Lebak sa lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat at kabilang sa mga ito ay isang supply officer at isang medic.
Ayon kay Col. Eduardo Gubat, commander ng 603rd Infantry Brigade, isinuko rin ng mga rebelde ang isang M14 rifle, dalawang sub-machine guns and dalawang .357 revolver.
“The surrender of said personalities was facilitated by a Barangay Tanod who happened to be a relative of one of the rebels," ani Gubat.
Sinabi naman ni Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander ng Joint Task Force Central (Mindanao), na ang pagsuko ng mga rebelde ay dahil na rin sa magandang programa ng pamahalaan sa kanila at mabibigyan sila ng pagkakataon na makabalik ng normal sa lipunan. Bunsod na rin ito ng nagpapatuloy na focused military operations, dagdag pa ng opisyal.
“They are coming back because they trust the program of the government. They are experiencing hardship in the hinterlands of Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato, hence they come back to the folds of the law to live peacefully with their families,” wika pa ni Uy. (Rhoderick BeƱez)
