Many areas in the capital town of Jolo were flooded. Those who received the aid are residents of Bus-Bus, Takut-Takut and Tulay.

Tan, accompanied by Jolo town Vice Mayor Ezzeddin Tan and other municipal officials, distributed the aid at the Sulu Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Patikul town. The aid was part of the assistance of the provincial government.

On Monday, Jolo Mayor Kerkhar Tan also distributed relief packs to the victims of flash floods in the villages.

Weather experts said the heavy rains were caused by the Low Pressure Area and Intertropical Convergence Zone which also affected a large area in Mindanao.

Flooding in Jolo has been a perennial problem during the rainy season and the Ministry of Public Works and Highways in the Muslim autonomous region has not provided solutions to the predicament of the locals. (Mindanao Examiner)
