No Covid cases in 51 Zambo barangays

OVER HALF of Zamboanga City’s 98 barangays are now free from Covid-19 as the local government continue to battle the spread of the deadly respiratory disease.

City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said at least 51 barangays have no reported Covid-19 cases since early this year. She attributed this to the strict implementation of the health protocols and community quarantine guidelines by the local task force on Covid-19 headed by Mayor Beng Climaco.

She identified the barangays with no reported cases of Covid-19 as Baluno, Bolong, Bunguiao, Busay (Sacol Island), Cabaluay, Cacao, Calabasa, Campo Islam, Capisan, Cawit, Curuan, Dita, Dulian (Upper Bunguiao), Dulian (Upper Pasonanca), Guisao, Labuan, Lamisahan, Landang Gua, Landang Laum, Lanzones, Lapakan, Latuan (Curuan).

And Licomo, Limaong, Limpapa, Lubigan, Lumayang, Lumbangan, Manalipa, Mangusu, Muti, Pangapuyan, Panubigan, Pasilmanta (Sacol Island), Patalon, Quiniput, Salaan, Santo NiƱo, Sibulao, Sinubong, Tagasilay, Taguiti, Talabaan, Taluksangay, Tictapul, Tigbalabag, Tigtabon, Tolosa, Tumalutab, Tumitus, including Vitali.

But Miravite said at least 10 barangays with the most number of active Covid-19 cases are Tetuan, Baliwasan, Lunzuran, Tumaga, Calarian, Pasonanca, Sinunuc, Canelar, Talon-Talon and San Roque. The rest have small number of Covid-19 cases.

“The City Health Office will further strengthen its efforts against Covid-19, particularly the profiling and containment of possible cases due to the resumption of inter-provincial bus trips,” she said. 

Zamboanga now has over 140 active Covid-19 cases. (Zamboanga Post)
