Pasay mayor tests positive for Covid-19

PASAY CITY  Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano announced on Tuesday that she has tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) after undergoing swab test.

Rubiano said she decided to undergo swab testing after experiencing some Covid-19 symptoms.

"Sa resulta, nakita na ako ay nagpositibo sa nasabing sakit (Based on the result, I was found positive for the disease)," she said in a Facebook post.

Rubiano said she is now in isolation.

The city's Covid-19 protocols on contact tracing are currently being implemented on the possible source of the disease as well as those I have contacted, to prevent further spread of the disease)," she added.

Meanwhile, Rubiano assured her constituents the city government will continue to provide services to the people amid the pandemic as she ordered all city departments and officials to assure continuous services for the people while she is under isolation.

I have directed our local officials and other personnel of the city government to continue the programs and projects of the city amidst my current situation)," Rubiano added.

The mayor cited the need to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

In this case, we can see that the Covid-19 does not choose anyone and we need the help of the vaccination and prayers to completely overcome this pandemic)," said Rubiano.

Pasay City has recorded a total of 7,137 confirmed cases as of Feb. 8. Of this number, 6,873 have recovered while 80 are active cases. The death toll is at 184. (By Lade Jean Kabagani)
